Rosie a very sweet Podenco

This post is in honour of Rosie, a very sweet and intelligent Podenco who was cruelly poisoned this week and is sadly missed by Janet Anscombe and Jeremy and many amigos.
 
Podencos can make very good pets and furry amigos, they are often overlooked in the rescue shelters.  But the podencos I have met who are fortunate enough to have a loving home are very affectionate and intelligent. So don't be put off adopting one, assuming they are just hunting dogs as they can make very good furry friends.!

Anaga ( in the photo below) who is staying at siruis canarias needs a loving home, she was abandoned near a veterinary clinic in La Laguna. Anaga is a little scared of strangers, so you would have to gain her trust. It is unfortunately typical behavior of dogs who have been abused.
 
But like most podencos she  is very affectionate and gets on with other dogs. Anaga is wormed, vaccinated and sterilized

Dogs That Need a Forever Home

How to get to K9 - K9 is at Las Chafiras on the San Miguel side of the motorway. Follow the San Miguel road for 400 metres, you will see the First Impressions Building on your right hand side. After a further 300 metres you will see a road off to the right. Continue on this road for approx a mile. The kennels are on the right on a bend. Car parking opposite the entrance.

Otto is a male Wire Haired Fox Terrier aprox, 5 yesrs old. He has a good temperament and gets on well with other dogs.

 

 

Gracie is a female, around 4 months old, will be a large dog. She is very friendly and full of energy.

 

Billy is a male dog, of mix breed. He is around 4 months old, will be a large dog. He is very shy and needs some extra loving to become a well rounded pet.

 

Three pups who need to find a place called home

Three puppies who came from the Arona area and are currently being looked after at Accion-Del-Sol. Need homes. The pups are have a mixture of poodle and possibly terrier.

A sweet Cocker spaniel was brought into Accion-Del-Sol today in a very bad condition but will soon be looking for a loving new home, please call 922778630 for more information.

Adopting a pooch is a big responsibility

Adopting a pup or an adult dog  is a big responsibility as most of you reading this blog realize.

So if you intend to adopt from a  dog refuge or adopt from a foster carer don't be upset if they ask you questions about your life style ie, how much time do you have for a pooch are you able to take the dog out for his toilet and excercise on a regular basis through the day ( dogs ideally don't like to left alone for more than 5-6 hours a day without a pee pee also dogs can get bored and can become destructive when left by themselves).

Other considerations on dog ownership, will you be able to afford to give the right innoculations and pay for pet insurance or vet bills incase of an accident or illness ? How often do you go away and can you afford dog hotels or do you have a friend that can look after your dog ?

The rescue shelters are not being mean when they ask these questions, it's just they don't want to see the dog being returned after a couple of weeks or months because the new owners haven't thought through the implications of owning a dog.

Gizmo needs a home !

Don't worry mis amigos I am not looking for a new home. I have a wooftastic family and I am not going anywhere !  No it's this little chap in the photo who is also called Gizmo , he hasn't had much luck poor fella. His first owners gave him up, after bringing him over from the UK. Then Gizmo's owners later adopted two puppies!. Which just makes me barking mad!

The story is not over yet though. Gizmo then gets adopted by two humans who now have to give him up because the place they are moving too doesn't take dogs. Steph Tufft has met Gizmo and she says he is a little character and completely unfazed with Steph's larger dogs.

So if anyone reading this fancies giving Gizmo a home he deserves. Afterall he is called Gizmo so is bond to be incredibly loveable and intelligent,etc,etc. Call Steph on 628 859 973

Luna lost her owners in a tragic accident

Luna recently lost her owners after a tragic accident, and needs to find another loving home. Luna is about three years old, a very good doggie listens to commands and is house trained. Unfortunately she cannot stay with her present foster carers for long , as they have two dogs.

If anybody in the UK is reading this, the laws in England concerning transporting animals from outside of Britain (European countries) have now been relaxed and it is much easier to fly a dog to the Britain. So if you like the look of this pooch, I am sure she would love running around in the fields in the UK.

Xuxu and Bocka need your help !

Xuxu and Bocka have been in Live Arico for over  three years they desperately need a home.

Recently Xuxu and Bocka have been taken to be fostered by the nice people ( Alison and Mark) at Poochie Hotel, what wooftastic humans !. The dogs came to Live Arico together ,are great pals and cannot be separated.
