Chinese Fur Trade

Be warned the depiction of animal cruelty in the video link below is so horrible, you may not want to watch it ..!

I will explain what its about, the video depicts animals including dogs being skinned alive on a fur farm in china, they say its done to get a more perfect "cut". Some of the animals are still alive even after being skinned and their hearts pump for 5 or 10 minutes later. There was one pup, that still managed to lift his head and gaze at the camera with bloodied eyes

There are no regulations governing fur farms in China....The swiss animal protection investigators who secretly fimed this atrocity, found horrors beyond their worst imaginings and concluded,"Conditions on Chinese fur farms make a mockery of the most elementary animal welfare standards. In their lives and their unspeakable deaths, these animals have been denied even the simplest acts of kindness."

The only way to prevent such unimaginable cruelty is never to wear any fur - Take the pledge to never wear fur

K9 in desperate financial state..!

Breaking Barking News...!

Below is a newsletter from K9... the sanctuary desperately needs donations to pay vet bills, and food suppliers. Bankruptcy will be around the corner if not more money is found...!

Hello friends of K9
Sorry it has been a long time since a K9 newsletter has been published. What with illnesses of helpers and lack of them in general time has gone by so quickly.

We still continue to rescue many dogs and cats, neutering and spaying as we go as the secret is to stop the breeding. Don’t worry breeding will never be stopped altogether - some escape the net all the time! The thing is that no matter if we are short of help or money the same numbers of animals always need to be rescued. And money is what we need to talk about.

Always, money needs to be spent on animal food, vet bills, medicines, parasite sprays and a variety of things needed for the daily, weekly and monthly running of the kennels. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. As an animal Sanctuary we simply cannot do without it! The kennels cost at least as much if not slightly higher than a year ago. to run but one problem now exists, shortage of MONEY because of the economic climate in general. Because of this, funds are much more difficult to raise, attempting markets, car boot fares, nearly new sales etc. The truth is we are only raising less than half the MONEY we were a year ago. We thought it was hard then but now………

The stage we have reached folks is that for example we owe the food suppliers €2,500 and the veterinary establishments €3,500 alone. This cannot continue. Like all suppliers of services they need to be paid. They are being patient but we are at the “red letter” stage. We continue to ask them for their services, paying them only a fraction of what we owe.
In the meantime the animals are well taken care of, much with the help of volunteer helpers, but without an urgent injection of funds our future looks gloomy and questionable.

We do not like begging letters but this is one! We are in a desperate financial state. As members we are asking you for extra donations thus enabling K9 to continue to function normally without the thoughts of a bankrupt situation. This can be done in the form of donations (large or small) or paying your out of date yearly subscription (€20) (if applicable). We really need to raise €7000 to clear our debts and get back on “even” again. So please dig into your pockets and purses and donate to this very worthy cause. Can you really say “no” to all those lovable animals we have in our care. We as an organization have faith that you can help the animals in this time of need. In anticipation, the Committee, helpers and animals of K9.

Send your cheque with your name and address to: La Presidente, Refugio de Animales (K9), Apartado No 67, Adeje 38670, Tenerife, Canary Islands. Make your cheque out to “REFUGIO DE ANIMALES (K9)” We will receipt all donations. If you have any problems sending money telephone 0034 922 782840 or 922 740160

Stray Dog Prayer

Please send me somebody who will care!
I'm tired of running
I'm sick with despair

My body is aching
It's so racked with pain
And I pray
As I run in the rain
That someone will love me
And give me a home
A warm cozy bed
And a big juicy bone

My last owner tied me
All day in the yard
Sometimes with no water

And that was hard
So I chewed my leash
And God I ran away.........
