Opening hours are
Monday to Friday: 11:30 a 13:30 y 15:30-17:30
Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 a 16:00

A lovely lady called Ann Plummer has adopted one of Accion Del Sols large dogs named Fatama, she has been in the refuge for over a year so its really nice for her to have a new home.

Aktiontier the German charity has now sent some of their staff to Tenerife to be based at Reina Sofia airport here in the south of Tenerife to raise awareness of the charity and the good work they do helping all animals over europe not just Accion Del Sol.
 
Next big fundraising event will be a horse and dog show at Hipico Del Sur in Buzanada on the 12th of december at 1pm. It will start with a dog show to find Mr and Mrs dog 2011, then horse and dog team agility competition, horse show jumping and fun dog racing. Father xmas will be stopping by with lots of presents for the children, pony rides, BBQ, and lots more fun and games for all the family.

Accion-del-Sol events and re-homed dogs

These lucky two dogs have both been found new loving homes in Germany. Both dogs have been in the refuge about 6 months. Accion Del Sol tries their hardest to match dogs correctly with there new owners. These dogs will be much happier in Germany living in the cooler climate.

Our Tenerife Fitness club is meeting on the 21st of october at Torviscas in the carpark by the Moonlight bar near to where the old market use to be. A stroll along the seafront with you and your dog, do come and join us, its great fun and good exercise for you and your dog and makes new friend at the same time . Accion-del-Sol first fitness club

A great start to our new dog / owner fitness club. We set off from the Arona Grand at 6.30 and done a brisk 5 kms walk along the sea front. The dogs were all very well behaved and they had great fun. It took us 1hour and we burnt up 300 calories. We attracted lots of interest and handed out many leaflets on the way giving people info on the Accion Del Sol dog refuge. Our next meeting is on the 30th of september meeting behind the Adheje Grand Hotel in Fanabe for lots of fun games with our dogs. Fun Dog Agility Event 5th of September at Accion-Del-Sol

Fun dog agility at accion-del-sol, 5th of September which is free to join, great fun for the dogs and there owners. Anyone who would like too join in but doesn't have a dog then Marion (Director of accion-del-sol) would only be too happy to lend you one of the 170 plus refuge dogs.

You will also be given a guided tour of the refuge too see the excellent facilities and care thats given to the dogs.

This will be followed by afternoon tea with homemade cakes. There is no charge for this event but a few euros in the donation box would be welcomed. Please contact myself for more information.

Barbecue for the volunteers of the Teide Challenge

Marion at Accion-del-sol kindly held a barbecue for the brave people who did the Teide challenge last month, raising 1056 euros for the dogs at Accion-Del-Sol. Well done to the Volunteers and to Karen Clack for organising it !

Raquel needs a home..

This little Jack Russell was brought to Accion-Del- Sol “proteccion civil” with her puppy.

She still looks very unhappy. Who knows what people have done to her. She is a very quiet Lady who doesn’t want to make any noise. So she whould fit perfect with somebody in a flat. Raquel is small and her tail was cut.

Please is there one who wants this  2 years old dog?

The Teide Challenge

On July the 25th leaving at 2.30 am Karen Clack is organising a sponsored walk up Mount Teide to raise money for Accion Del Sol dog refuge in Granadilla. The walk starts at 3am and it takes about 4 hours to reach the summit where you can see the sunrise giving the most amazing views. The climb down is about 3 hours. You will be escorted by the Atlantic Whale Foundation guides who will divide the group into two allowing for the real fit people to plow ahead whilst the rest can take a gentler approach. 

You do need to be fairly fit for this. Karen is asking businessess or individuals to collect a minimum of 50 euros each in sponsorship which is realistic and achievable given the present economy. So far Karen has on board Tenerife Fitness, Tenerife Insurance Services, Sunway Properties, Blevins Franks, Pit Team Sur,  Accion Del Sol, The Tenerife News and a few individual people joining in. If anyone else would like to be involved or too be a sponsor then please contact Karen - on 687905511

What a fabulous time was had by the dogs and humans at Accion Del Sol party, really good turn out. Thirty three dogs joined in the agility course and they all did really well..
